On November 6, 2001, 80 agency representatives and individuals gathered at 519 Church Community Centre to launch a new coalition to work on food and hunger issues.

The Food Justice Coalition's goal is to create a collective advocacy voice for the many grassroots food programs and individual activists in Toronto, as well as offering networking and training opportunities to members.
