Compost Breakdown:
A Guide to Mid-sized Composting Success
by Ravenna Barker

Learn how to set up and run a mid-sized composting operation. This manual takes you step by step through the composting process and tells you what you need to think about before you get started, what options are available, and how to troubleshoot. It includes recommendations for getting a group involved and handy worksheets. Case studies of several projects including our own Field To Table compost operations are included.
Funded with a generous grant from the Toronto Atmospheric Fund this manual is part of our effort to help reduce CO2. By composting and returning it to the soil, we increase organic matter which can sequester carbon dioxide.
Also see our report "Fighting Global Warming at the Farmer's Market" for more information on the role of the food system in global warming and how we can reduce CO2 emissions by our food choices.
