VOLUNTEER WITH FOODSHARE

In contrast to programs based on more traditional charity principles, our projects are based on community building / self-help principles. Again, that means that there is little distinction between "volunteers" and "participants." Volunteers aren't so much "helping someone out" as they are taking part in the exciting opportunity to help build a new food system.

We also promote workshops, workbees and other local food events through our monthly e-bulletin. Click here to sign-up for our local news & events e-bulletin

Volunteering at FoodShare
Thank you so much for your interest and enthusiasm for FoodShare. We are so excited that you are thinking of us.

Most of our volunteer positions are currently filled and we are thrilled that many others have also been in touch lately, but we are having some difficulty keeping up with the demand.

At the same time we want to make sure you find out about all that we do and that we have an opportunity to meet you to tell you about any volunteering opportunities that arise.

If you would like to join us at one of our upcoming monthly volunteer intakes please contact Toni at toni@foodshare.net or 416.363.6441 x 253 or Rachel, at rachel@foodshare.net or 416.363.6441 x 222. Thank you!

Potential Volunteer positions with FoodShare
Our need for volunteers varies at different times of the month and year. Some of the tasks are packing the Good Food Box, preparing food for the Wellness Boxes, staffing the FoodLink Hotline, answering phones and emails at Reception, composting and gardening, during the gardening season.

Good Food Box Stop Coordinator
FoodShare relies on well over 150 volunteers who coordinate Good Food Box drop-offs. A Good Food Box stop can start with 5 - 8 orders- ideally reaching a minimum of 10 orders. With every ten boxes ordered - we deliver a free Good Food Box which can be used by the stop coordinator, shared amongst the other boxes or donated.

Good Food Box stops (we also call them drop-offs) can be front porches, co-ops, social housing, daycares, churches, community centres etc. Volunteer stop coordinators take orders, collect payment and ensure that customers pick up their boxes.Stops can have a delivery once a week, every two weeks or once a month. Everyone can participate.

To find out more about becoming a Good Food Box stop coordinator, contact Delsie Hyatt at 416-363-6441 (ext 234) or email her at delsie@foodshare.net.
